ADD,
ADHD and Acupuncture
Many parents do not realize their
options when deciding on a treatment for ADD and
ADHD. A lot of people know that acupuncture is
very effective for pains, but acupuncture can
also treat ADD and ADHD.
ADD and ADHD is a physiological
problem which is characterized mostly by poor
concentration and distractibility. According to the Taoist principle
of Yin and Yang, In order for a person to be healthy,
their Yin and Yang must be balanced. The disorder
of ADHD and ADD is caused when yin and yang
is out of balance so chi can not flow freely in
the body.
Most commonly used ADD and ADHD
medications can only cover the symptoms with adverse
side effects. That is one reason that sufferers
of ADD and ADHD and their families have been looking
for a more holistic, natural approach.
Acupuncture can be a powerful tool in the struggle
to calm the victims of ADD and ADHD. It can also
help to address some of the unpleasant side effects
of the medications used to treat them.
One of my patients was a 17 year old boy who was
diagnosed with ADHD when he was only 3 years old.
He started to take Ritlan when he was 9 years
old. Then he changed to another medication called
Concerta when he was 14 years old. Even with medication, he couldn't
control his emotions. He had anxiety and lost
focus and he couldn¡¯t study. He lost balance in
his life. After about 7 weeks of acupuncture treatment,
he gradually cut his medication. His anxiety disappeared,
he could study again. He regained balance in his
life.
No parent wants their child
(ren) take medication for life As a doctor, I
understand that if this teenager¡¯s anxiety got
worse it would develop into depression. Then he would have to depend on a larger dose of an even stronger medication.
From my clinic experience, natural
remedies, such as acupuncture is the best option
for physiological problems. If the case is so
extreme, I highly recommend the combination of
natural remedy and medication. In fact during
the stages of acupuncture treatment, the patient
readjusts and harmonizes themselves. They will feel more confident
in themselves.
Acupuncture can stimulate the
body's natural healing power and help maintain
harmony and health in the body. Acupuncture is
also known for its supportive function in maintaining
brain, nervous system and circulatory health. Acupuncture is the ultimate option
for ADD and ADHD.
